Italian spiced ground turkey
I started this blog because I believe everybody can cook. Maybe not to the level of complexity and whimsy that will earn you admiration, but enough to maintain yourself with a decent level of health and budget, without hating what you are eating. When I discuss some of the recipes I publish, some people go “that’s not cooking!”, but we’re not going for a certification here, we are going for an enjoyable diet. It just so happens that certain simple methods and combinations work wonders to make good food.
Such is the case with ground turkey and Italian seasoning. Turkey is a low-fat protein that can be too mild for some people. What little fat is in it, mixes with Italian seasoning to add flavor and fragrance. If you don’t have Italian seasoning at home, check this list of ingredients and add the ones you have: basil, oregano, rosemary, thyme, garlic powder, sage and coriander.
Ingredients:
Pack of 8-12 oz. of ground turkey
2 tbs vegetable oil
1 small onion
3 cloves of garlic
2 tbs Italian seasoning
Preparation:
Cut the onion and garlic into small cubes.
Heat up the oil in a large pan. Add the onions and garlic, cook on medium high for 5 minutes, until the fragrances come out. Add the turkey and use a wooden spoon to separate it into pieces. Add the seasoning, cook for about 10 minutes, until the turkey is no longer pink (I like it a little crunchy, so I leave it cooking a little longer). Serve on a bed of rice or vegetables.
