Oreo milkshake
Nothing better in the summer than to sip something sweet and cold. I'm sure we're all thinking of our favorite cocktail, but for family yard time, we better go for something we can all share.
I learned to make this at my first formal job, in a now defunct fast food chain in Caracas, Venezuela. The chain was famous for its shakes, and the shakes later became famous among my friends and family in US. It still brings me back to those days of youth, hope, and knowing that my only job was to do well in school. Cheers to those times of clarity.
You have two choices for this shake, depending on your mood. You can use less milk, keep a more solid state, fit to eat with a spoon. Or you can use more milk, so you can sip it with a straw. in any case, the magic is in the crushed cookies, which you should be able to taste, so keep it nice and dense.
This recipe should be good for a tall glass for 4 people, or a short one for 8 people. Please note the order in which you will put ingredients in the blender, to help it mix.
Ingredients
4 cups of milk
1 quart of vanilla icecream
1/2 quart of chocolate icecream
12 Oreo cookies or similar
Preparation
Pour 2 cups of milk in the blender jar. Add the icecream and 8 cookies. Pulse the blender at the highest speed until thoroughly combined. The blender might create a vacuum in the middle of the mix; use a wooden spoon to help combine the ingredients.
Remove the jar and check the consistency of the mix, adding more milk if necessary.
Serve immediately, decorating with a straw or spoon, and a cookie.
